A SOLUTION to How to deliver mass education to the world.

Pakistan:
Pakistan a country of 160 Million with only 25% of it which can read and write.

Problem:
In Pakistan there are over 200,000 school’s of govt of Pakistan that have bad or no teachers.

Those which have teachers, are teachers that are from the local area’s with bad quality of education with themselves also.

Possible Technologies for mass education:
Internet: Internet is a great medium however it is still very expencive and does not reach most of the country.

Television: A Set top box, tv, a small generator or UPS , the entire bundle will cost 125$US per School, to set it up, where the system can then assist the available teacher with good quality of programming, for the students to study Maths, Science, Languages.

It is the cheapest way to deliver high quality low cost education, without going though a massive expencive teachers training program.

200,000 schools will only cost a mere 2 million Dollars to fund.

A TV Channel cost’s less than 200,000$US a year to run with all expences covered.

Past Exerpeinces:
For many years, the virtual university channels were setup to give higher education to the masses are there, but the quality of the programming they deliver is not at par to attract serious audience, and being a govt funded non commercial project, the quality of programming is very boring.

Thinking out of the box:
An Education channel deliverying quality of programming that can attract commercial companies to advertise on it, due to the quality of the programming it will deliver.

Examples:
We have commercial channels like wikid, Cartoon Network, National Geograhic, Discovery, History Channel.

All these channels deliver programming that is high in quality, thus it create’s audience which gives confidence to the commercial companies to advertise on these channels.

Examples of programs:

Programs that can be made by the commercial channels can be.

Lets Learn English
Lets Improve our English
Lets Learn Math’s
Lets learn Urdu

Lets Learn how to ?
a. Make a tv program
b. fix a mobile phone
c. Fix a computer
d. Fix a car
e. Fix an air conditioner

These programs can be made in a way where the viewer can later on actually go and give exam and try to pass the exam based on what he earned from these channels.

I think the National Geographic and Discovery and history channels are already playing their part in the rest of the general education for the masses, however bringing about programs for general masses will help our education a LOT.

Most people claim that education is the biggest problem of this country, and we need to think out of the box in order to solve it.

Technology use and misuse

Dear Shery,

Thank You for a great topic today of use of Mobile and Internet and Technology in general.

I saw half of it and would love to see it again on youtube.com if you can upload it there.

The Part I saw was dictating that the use of mobile phone is incorrect, In decent and misused by the children and the masses, however I also noted that most of the people who were against this DID NOT know how to use it, were not active users and there was more jealousy among them rather then reason.

1 person declared that the mobile should be banned.

One person declared that I did not have when I was young, so why should others?

One person said, I do not know how to use it, and these others have latest phones?

I think the above shows that these people obviously DO NOT know the advantages of one of the most powerful tool in their pocket.

You asked, who is responsible for the misuse?

Is the Government or the parents?

I would like to bring your attention and attention of other channels, to please now it is the biggest responsibility of the Media channels to educate the masses, parents DO NOT know the uses and misuses nor  how to control these new technologies or put them to better use.

There are experts in the fields who u should bring on the TV and have them teach the parents, and the children. Just like you have cooking show’s.

1. how to use the phone
2. how to use the internet
3. what precautions to take in order to prevent their children from misusing the phones  and internet.
4. what good is internet for?
5. what is it bad for?
6. What will Electronic socializing do to them, how is it good and bad for them and their generations to come

I hope to see AAJ acting up on this, and launching a daily technology training show, which will easily get sponsor’s from the top telecom companies also as this will only result in more and correct usage of technology.
