Group SMS Service for Security in Pakistan

// June 11th, 2009 // No Comments » // Broadband Pakistan, Chopaal, SMS

Dear Friends –

In the unfolding security situation in Pakistan, there is no mechanism for people to update each other about security threats, bomb scares, news alerts etc.

We have noticed a growing use of ChOpaal – our group SMS service – for such security updates. We are now trying to formalize the use of ChOpaal for such security alerts. For this, we have created a consolidated group on ChOpaal called “SafePak” so that all such information is exchanged on a central channel.

Could you please spread the word about “SafePak” so that we can all keep each other informed in this unfolding security crisis? Timely information on the security situation may help save lives.

Anyone wishing to join the group can simply send an SMS to 0332-4672255 (033CHOPAAL5) with the message saying “join safepak”. Anyone wishing to broadcast a safety alert simply needs to include the word “safepak” in the SMS sent to the chopaal number above. The group is moderated to prevent spam and false alarms.(Someone wishing to leave the group can also leave simply by sending an SMS saying “leave SafePak”)

The service is completely free – zero cost for joining or using the service. More information on ChOpaal is available on the chopaal website at: http://www.chopaal.pk.

Thanks,
-Umar

We want world call to match the rates that of other broadband companies so there is more competition thus better rates and service for citizens.

Subject: World Call Broadband Rates

Dear Sirs,

We are / would like to be a WorldCall Broadband Subscriber via Cable Modem, however the recent decrease in prices from PTCL is forcing us to go ahead and buy service from them.

We wanted to request you to re-evaluate your pricing and if not less, try to match the prices of what are being offered by ptcl broadband at this time.

This will encourage us to not get services from your company, as you offer free phone service along with the cable internet service.

We hope that you will do this soon, and will let us know via email and via media.

Thank You,

Rehan Allahwala
